Copyright of Clansman EMERs and other technical documents.

All Clansman documents are subject to Crown copyright. This lasts for 50 years from the date of publication, so any document published after 1972 will still be subject to this copyright (at the time of writing).

Crown Copyright documents may be copied and distributed, without a need to obtain a licence, under strictly limited terms of use set out in the Open Government License Version 3. VMARS belives that the EMERs and other Crown Copyright documents listed here are covered by this license if used as intended by VMARS for private study, research and to facilitate the use and repair of the equipment covered by the documents.

For the purposes of the license the generic attribution statement "Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0" should be applied.

It is likely, however, that anyone attempting to sell these documents to other parties without attribution or reference to the license will most definitely be in breach of the OGL. Any such activity will implicate the Society, and will thus be regarded as 'bringing the Society into disrepute'.

Guidance on the use of Crown Copyright material may be obtained from
 https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/information-management/re-using-public-sector-information/uk-government-licensing-framework/

For the time being however, because the OGL does not apply to third party rights the Crown Copyright Information Provider is not authorised to license we are not making documents in this category openly available on the Internet in cases where there may still be a proprietary interest held by the original manufacturer or its successors.
VMARS Members only may obtain a free download of the documents on this list by sending a request stating the filename of the required document(s) to
archivist[at]vmars/dot/org/dot/uk.  The request must come from the Email address you have registered with VMARS (The one to which your News sheet is sent) - a maximum of 10 document requests per application can be made. We will reply with a time limited personal link to access the download.  Please note however, that while we try to reply within 24 hours, this service is provided by volunteers on a "best endeavour" basis and on occasion replies may take longer - please be patient, the Archivist has a day job!
